Fees

PHA (NSW & ACT) recommends the appropriate fees for engagement of an accredited professional historian fall within the ranges set by the national peak body Professional Historian Australia (PHA), with exact rates determined through negotiation between client and historian.

Members of PHA (NSW & ACT) are accredited according to qualifications and experience under the national criteria adopted by the PHA.PHA recommends set fees

Qualifications and experience at each level vary, but commonly include:

  • Graduate historian – Bachelor degree majoring in history plus one year full-time professional experience. Customarily holds an Honours degree.
  • Professional historian (Associate) – Masters degree and/or Graduate Diploma in history, experience in research together with one year full-time professional practice.
  • Professional historian – Doctoral or Masters degree in history with either a substantial research component or two years’ full-time professional experience. Often also holds additional relevant postgraduate qualifications.
